Editing Drumkits in Session Drummer iii
<@$#^@%$#&> This sure needs an update...
Building drumkits using sfz files is definitely something of a very old world method... It's fourth dimension this was update. I sure hope it'south in the next version as it'south rediculous to be then limited in such a vital area...
Here's an example...
I was very happy with a detail drumkit except for the ride cymbal for this particular song. Now that would be easy except that the ride bong is exactly right then I tin can't just load a different ride cymbal using the load drum dialog.... Information technology requires editing the sfz file.... <sigh>... Definitely more than than I desire to tangle with.... I did a workaround using a 2d example of Session Drummer 3 merely for the ride cymbal..... What a waste of resources to get my needed result...
Are there some kind of sfz editors that make this less of a typing ordeal and simply allow me to bandy sounds within the sfz?
This was one thing a lot easier in the DR008 and information technology was a hurting there, but at least I could manage it...
Sorry.... Just needed to vent...

Yeah ... SD3 is great, but information technology would be dainty to have a couple of things changed. That's true of anything though. I was doing a elementary country song concluding nighttime and needed a snare rim shot along with snare/brush. I used the analog brush kit and wanted to route each drum to it'southward own sound output. The rim shot and brush striking are both on the same channel and tin can't be changed so I couldn't adapt the volume between the two, and lowering the velocity completely inverse how the rim shot sounded. There are three unlike snare's in the analog castor kit and all three become through the same aqueduct. Not a big bargain, just information technology would be nice if little things similar that could be changed.

I guess you used multiple instances to get around the issues?
Until Session Drummer 3 I had been using fXpansion's DR008 with no issues. I by and large changed because of the available kits which I similar in general, but I can't modify the kits more than than loading drum pieces (which may inlcude eight sub-keys) or the mixer elements...
I know that the sfz files can be edited, but that'south such tedious work that I'm non ready to tinker with information technology... If I could load the Slate drums into the DR008 I'd be very happy as their' interface while a bit difficult is far more elegant than verbose scripts...
I simply feel that if the kit (SD3) is made to handle such depth it should likewise take an editor of reasonable grace...
I believe it will go better, simply will I live that long??? ;-)

I use Session drummer three and have a host of drum wavs and hits. I use Session Drummer 3 to load the various pulsate hits and transport each one to information technology's own output. Session Drummer iii makes it easy to obtain the correct drum audio you are looking for and then when I have it, I save it as a drum template so I tin can recall the kit each fourth dimension I desire that item audio.

Thanks Jesse, merely the problem is with multi-sampled cells...
For instance... In the Slate drum kit, there are 3 samples mapped to the ride cymbal, Ride 1 Bell and Ride two. Each will exist triggered by a discrete mapped midi not number...
I establish in the current state of affairs, I wanted the bell from his ride, but I needed a dissimilar Ride ane/Ride ii...
To get them both, I loaded two instances of Session Drummer three. One with the Slate pulsate kit which is the acutal kit being "played" and the second Session Drummer was loaded with the Sonic Reality Classic Stone Kit from which I just used the Ride cymbal...
What a huge waste matter of resource. I looked to map the Classic Rock Cymbal into the Slate kit, but it appears Slate is setup using a random selector to rotate sounds (?) and it was extremely disruptive trying to effigy which/how to map the cymbals I wanted... Editing an SFZ....
Thanks for rtying to help...

KeniI guess you used multiple instances to get effectually the problems?
Keni
I tried this subsequently I read in your original post that you use multiple instances of SD3.
Sonar froze and I couldn't get it to close fifty-fifty using ctrl-alt-del. I ended upward getting two bluish screen popular upward windows. Both said it was the sonarpdr.exe file and then a full blue screen maxim something about my maudio device driver but it went so fast I couldn't read information technology all.
LOL!
I dear PC'southward don't you? :)
I used the Percussion Strip 64 plug to become customize the snair/stick combo. Information technology worked out pretty skilful. I love the plug.

Hi Shane...
Where was the lockup? Trying to open up a second instance?
What hardware are you using?
I use a number of plugins to process my drums... Assorted compressors and eq... It varies for me depending on what I'm using the plugin to exercise for that drum... ;-)
Honestly, I haven't used the Percussion strip... I like the Timeworks CompressorX and EQ for most of my pulsate needs.
Pc's? I love/hate them all day/night! ;-)

KeniHowdy Shane...
Where was the lockup? Trying to open a 2nd case?
What hardware are you using?
The lockup happened after I loaded the 2nd instance of SD3. It loaded fine, but I got no sound out of it. I went in and tried to change the routing for the channel that the snare was on and sonar crashed when I clicked on information technology.
My signature has my specs, that's the only hardware I use.
I saved all the crash logs but don't have them with me right now. I may start another thread tomorrow with all the crash logs and see if anyone can come up up with anything. I accept to scoot now. I'll check the forums tomorrow.

Hmmm... With an i5 you should have more than than enuf horsepower to run 2 instances of DS3... I'm only running on a core2duo 2Ghz with 2GB RAM...
In that location'due south gotta exist an issue... Was this in an otherwise empty piece? What plugins might already be loaded in the song (whatsoever tracks)
